The Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy (NAPharm) has commissioned its secretariat, located at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH), Idi Araba, on Tuesday, 27 June, 2023.

The exciting commissioning ceremony was performed by the NAPharm President, Prince Julius Adeluyi-Adeluyi, in the company of the Vice-President, Sir Ifeanyi Atueyi, the General Secretary, Prof. Lere Baale, and the Programme Director, Dr Lolu Ojo.

The Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Prof. Adepoju- Bello, led the team of her academic staff to witness the occasion, while Distinguished Prof. C.I. Igwilo, chairman of NAPharm Education Committee and Prof. Udoma Mendie, were also present at the function.

Speaking on the choice of the pharmacy faculty for the secretariat, Prince Adeluyi-Adeluyi, explained that the site was given to the Academy by the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof. Rahmon Bello, when Distinguished Prof. Igwilo was the director of the School of Foundation Studies of UNILAG.

He disclosed that the secretariat was set up and furnished by a committee led by Prof. Olukemi Odukoya, NAPharm administrative secretary.

The NAPharm President, thus appreciated the Dean and staff of the Faculty of Pharmacy, UNILAG, for the warm reception accorded him and his executives. He also thanked the executives of the Academy for their continual support, as he announced that the Academy will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in a big way next year.

He paid glowing tribute to Prof. Odukoya, for her committed services and determination to provide a befitting secretariat for the Academy. Odukoya, who recently celebrated her 65th birthday, was presented with birthday gifts at the occasion.

In her remarks, Odukoya expressed her gratitude to the Academy for the kind gesture and cooperation of the Fellows, stating that she is wonderfully and fearfully made by God to render services to the people.

Dr Margaret Ilomuanya of the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, seized the opportunity of the occasion to take the NAPharm executive round the ongoing construction of the GMP Laboratory; while Adelusi-Adeluyi offered the collaboration of the Academy with the faculty in the area of training and research.
